Location
Online Webinar
Presenter: Mararet Yerba, Ph.D., NCSP
Date: February 11, 2011 at 10:00am
Event Type: Webinar
Session Description
– The purpose of this presentation is to demonstrate how the Cattell-Horn-Carrol (CHC) theory of cognitive abilities can facilitate the understanding of a student’s performance in academic areas, as well as guide the selection of assessment procedures utilizing Cross Battery Assessment. The CHC framework, along with Cross Battery Assessment procedures, provides a comprehensive view of cognitive processing strengths and weaknesses. These identified cognitive processing profiles can be used to guide the selection of research-based interventions at different levels of Response to Intervention. Research linking specific cognitive processing profiles to academic achievement will be reviewed. Case examples will be used to demonstrate how CHC processing strengths and weaknesses can be used to select research based interventions.
